May 21st, 2010 - Recently shelved: Native American History and Culture
We are still pricing this collection but have added many books on Native American and Latin American history and culture to our shelves. Purchased from the library of an anthropologist, the collection (spanning the 1940s through the ’70s) focuses on Native American tribes of Central America and the southern Unites States. A highlight is the complete 16-volume Handbook of Middle American Indians. Additionally, there are many numbers from the Viking Fund Publications in Anthropology as well as several later titles from the Bureau of American Ethnology series of Bulletins. Included are studies on Native American music, religion, foodways, and botany, among other subjects. General books on anthropology, archeology, and linguistics round out the collection.
February 24th, 2010 - ART-O-MAT at Myopic Books Providence
The Art-O-Mat is fully stocked! What is an Art-O-Mat? Art-o-mat machines are retired cigarette vending machines that have been converted to vend art. There are 82 active machines in various locations throughout the country. Our machine holds original works by 9 artist which can be purchased for $5. Insert your token and pull the knob!

February 7th, 2010 - Wakefield Shop closes…
We want to thank all our South County customers for their support over the past two years. Please stop by the Providence shop when visiting the city. The books are piled high here! We are working hard to make them at home (and find them permanent residency elsewhere).

November 29th, 2009 - Barbara Owen: Strange Birds at MB Wakefield
Barbara Owen’s Strange Birds is a collection of gouache paintings on paper torn from books. The show opens December 2nd and continues through January 9th. There will be a reception for the artist December 6th from 4-6pm.

Thursday October 29th Myopic Books Providence hosts James Allen Hall, Ana Božičević, and Amy King. We’ll gather at 7pm and the poetry will begin soon thereafter. Hope you can make it.
October 16th, 2009 - Jack Brull: Salt Stained Eyes at MB in Wakefield
Stop by this Saturday (October 17th) from 6-8pm for the opening of Jack Brull’s photo series SALT STAINED EYES at Myopic Books in Wakefield. Jack’s work is created using “lo-fi” and analog photographic mediums resulting in impressionistic representations of surfing and the sea. The show continues through November 28th.

October 2nd, 2009 - Daniel Stupar: Life Vest for Fern at Myopic Books
Life Vest for Fern, a group of sculptural works by Daniel Stupar hangs in the gallery of the Wakefield shop through October 16th. Stupar states: This collection of cobbled together assemblages by and large takes inspiration from the sea in specific, but water, its appeal and affectation, in a more general regard.
It is a brief exhibit so don’t delay!
