July 1st, 2008 - Wayland Square Sidewalk Sale July 10-12

Myopic Books in Providence will be participating in the Wayland Square Sidewalk Sale July 10th through the 12th (Thursday - Saturday) with a dollar book sale.  Due to a large collection purchased last month of excellent philosophy, sociology, media and cultural studies books (see our shelves!) I was left with many equally good books with, unfortunately, underlining or other marks.  If you are interested in the text alone… and others’ ideas and doodles do not interfere with your yearn to learn you better come to our sale!  There will be hundreds, and probably a thousand, books for a dollar each on any of the sidewalk sale days that are free of precipitation!  While in the Square over the next week keep your eye out for our 20% off on a single purchase coupon (it’s good until the end of August!).

June 3rd, 2008 - “A Fiji Story” a photo essay by Willa Mamet

Willa Mamet’s photographs of a Deaf school in Suva Fiji are hanging in the Wakefield shop’s gallery through the month of June.  There is much play with shadow and light in the work and a comfortable familiarity in these scenes of daily life in the school.  More about Willa’s work here: http://www.willamametphotography.com/

June 3rd, 2008 - Recent Arrivals

As usual May has brought us many great collections of books.  The highlights include books on sport in ancient Greece, Japanese sport and the samurai, philosophy, political theory, sociology, media and cultural studies.  We are working hard to get them priced and out on the shelf in both shops!

May 2nd, 2008 - Welcome!
